The MAT Cinema on Karlovo Square has been in operation since December 1994; with a capacity of 46 seats, it is the smallest cinema in the Czech Republic and the only one in Prague 2. It was founded by film editor Jan Mattlach, the grandson of the building’s architect. The cinema does not show commercials; it also screens live broadcasts from European opera houses and documentary films.
