Kasárna Karlín is located in the historic complex of former 19th-century military barracks, which has been a protected historic site since 1958. Since 2017, the cultural association Pražské centrum has been operating a summer movie theater in the courtyard, along with concerts, theater performances, and exhibitions—it operates seasonally from spring through fall and is not a year-round movie theater.
