Pua is fresh out of prison and hopes for a fresh start. But high compensation and an effort to help his mother financially quickly pull him back into his old ways. He becomes a henchman for a local mobster and quickly gets involved in another trouble. But there is another reason for returning to the underworld: Pua hopes to reunite with his former cellmate Mi-ji. The two men share a strong bond that Mi-ji is now trying to suppress. What happened behind bars must stay there. Or would there be a place for their feelings outside? In his feature debut, director Ping Chu pushes the boundaries of traditional masculinity and offers an insight into the lives of young Taiwanese who, under the pressure of poverty, become part of the criminal underworld. Through an unusual combination of romantic tension and neo-noir, it tells the story of a love that persists despite the fear of consequences. The film was screened at the Berlinale.
